Mavericks open the season with 2 wins

On Thursday, 2/25, the girls opened up the season at home vs. St. Joes. Leading 7-2 at halftime the Mavs came out in the second half and built up a 10 goal lead.  The final score was 14-4. Leading the way for the Mavericks was Rachel Perrett with six goals. Mauldin also got three goals from Alena Patton, and Kaitlin Yenson. Catelyn Henry had a great game in goal and the defense held St Joe's to only 4 goals!

Friday evening the Mavs travelled to Boiling Spring HS to open up region play. The Mavericks had a slow start falling behind 2-1 to the Bulldogs. The Mavericks composed themselves and went on a 7-0 run to end the half. After halftime Mauldin built another 10 goal lead and won the game 16-5. Freshman Kate Teodosio scored her first varsity goals for Mauldin, Mauldin also got goals from Alena Patton, Rachel Perrett, Kasey Obermeier, Leah Singleton, and Kaitlin Yenson. The Maverick defense and transition game was pushing the pace for the entire game.

The Mavericks travel to Greenville on Tuesday 3/1 and host Byrnes on 3/4!
