Mavs Start Region Play With Victory

Mauldin started its 2014 Region II-AAAA slate with a 28-7 victory over Wade Hampton.  Logan Edwards, who rushed for over 300 yards last week, was called on again for the Maverick offense and he delivered with 212 yards rushing and three touchdowns. 

After an early stumble, which saw the Generals take a 7-0 lead, the Mavericks defense held the Wade Hampton offense in check.  At halftime Edwards had out gained the Generals offense 130 yards - 99 yards.  Mauldin held a 21-7 halftime lead, getting two 9-yard touchdown runs from Edwards.  After an interception by Ozell Lloyd, Drequan Harris connected with Hunter Dawsey for a 25-yard touchdown. 

In the 2nd half the Mavs took their one 3rd quarter possession 89 yards for the final score of the night, a 2-yard TD run by Edwards.  The Mavs defense kept the Generals out of the endzone and Mauldin held on for the important 28-7 region win.
