Mauldin vs Hillcrest

The misery did not end for the Lady Mavericks… The captain, #11 Caitland Considine was in early foul trouble.  The team was collapsing. The Lady Mavericks were fouling, throwing each other really high uncatchable passes, turning over the ball, and missing the few free throws they were being granted. On the other half of the court, Hillcrest’s #23, #24 and #15 were scoring away. The half-time score was 9 Mauldin to 25 Hillcrest. Mauldin scored only 3 points all quarter.

After half, the Lady Mavericks played marginally better. #12 Khalia Shaw had a pair of buckets and blocked a shot, which is always motivational.  #24 Dah’Vielle Lucas had 4 rebounds and 4 points. #11 Caitland Considine stole the ball, had a basket and then made her 4th foul on a really bad call from referees that probably never even played a game of basketball, let alone referee. Still the turnovers continued and the quarter ended with 10 points more for each team. Mauldin 19 to Hillcrest 35.

Mauldin had their best quarter of play again in the 4th quarter scoring 15 points to Hillcrest’s 12. Had things been a little different in the 2nd quarter, the outcome would have been better for Mauldin. #10 La’Daisa Johnson scored 3 in all free throws (YEAH!). #11 Caitland Considine scored 2 baskets and 2 both free throws having been fouled (which is the first foul the refs called in her favor in all the shots she took and all the times she had the ball during the game!). Caitland also had a pair of rebounds and was playing with 4 fouls. #14 Marshaye Leake scored a basket and #21 Makayla Green scored too. #24 Dah’Vielle Lucas was fouled by nearly every Hillcrest player on the court and missed a lay-up without a foul being called. That actually happened twice in the game. It was probably a worse showing for the referees and their skills and ability than for the Lady Mavericks who could not find their game. Losing by 13 at the buzzer, Mauldin had 34 to Hillcrest’s 47.
