Dre Massey had 2 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown on the first drive of the game and the floodgates opened from their.  After his 34 yard TD scamper, Massey connected with CJ Thomas on a 2-pt conversion to make the score 8-0 over the host Woodmont Wildcats.

The Mavs were forced to punt on their second possesion, but the defense forced a fumble at Woodmont's 35 yard line.  Massey connected with Taz Richardson on a short bubble screen and Richardson did the rest racing 35 yards for a 15-0 lead.  Ozell Lloyd intercepted a Wildcat pass to end the first quarter.

Mauldin's offense and defense turned it up in the second quarter.  Beau Craft caught a 16 yard strike from Massey on the second play of the second quarter to extend the lead to 22-0.  The defense quickly forced a 3-and-Out and Massey connected on a 46 yard bomb to CJ Thomas, 28-0 after the missed PAT.  Jake Terry forced a fumble on the ensuing kick-off and three plays later Dre Massey was back in the endzone after a 9-yd run to extend the lead to 35-0.  The Mavs defense wasn't done as DeAndre Epps intercepted Woodmont setting Massey up for a 2-yd TD run.  The Wildcats next possesion ended on downs and the Mavs went 11 plays, 67 yards with Massey again finding Thomas on a 170yd TD reception to end the first half, 49-0 Mavericks.

Mauldin scored again on its opening possession of the second half when Craft rumbled in from 4 yards out, ending the night for most Maverick starters.  The defense would round out the scoring when Nafis Holt recorded a sack in the endzone for a safety and a 58-0 win.

Dre Massey accounted for 420 yards of offense and 7 TD's as the Mavericks improved to 1-1 and got Lee Taylor his first victory as head coach at Mauldin!  The Mavs will be on the road next week to face-off against TL Hanna.  Go Mavs!

Mavs Fall to Hillcrest 35-13

08/30/2013, 11:30pm EDT
By @MavsMauldin

Mauldin took the opening kick-off and marched right down the field and went up 7-0 on a Dre Massey 8-yd TD run.  The Mavs defense followed by holding Hillcrest on 4th down and giving the offense great field position.  The Mavs were unable to convert and Hillcrest QB Collin Sneed connected on the first of his 4 TD passes of the night (he also had one rushing TD) to tie the game at 7.  Momentum had turned and the Mavs were unable to answer in a 35-13 loss.

Massey completed 16/29 for 252 yds and a 9 yd TD pass to Parker Wyatt, but costly drops hurt the Mavericks all night.  Beau Craft rushed for 52 yards and Massey added 41 on the ground with the score and a fumble in the 1st half.  Taz Richardson had a big night receiving with 6 catches for 140 yards.  Tony Wideman led the team with 11 tackles.

Mauldin will travel to Woodmont next week where the Wildcats are coming off a victory over Wren. Go Mavs!

Mavs Hold Off Greer 21-20

By @MavsMauldin

Taz Richardson grabbed four passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns on a wet and rainy night to power Mauldin past Greer in the JL Mann Jamboree.  Dre Massey hit Richardson early in the 1st quarter to give the Mavs a 7-0 lead.  Greer responed with two scores, including a special teams TD to take a 14-7 lead.  Massey again connected with Richardson for a 78 yard bomb to tie the game.  The score remained 14-14 well into the 2nd quarter, when Mauldin mounted a drive from its own 17 yard line behind the power running of Beau Craft and Tyler Reimer.  Massey capped the drive with an 8-yard TD run.  Trailing 21-14, Greer mounted a scoring drive of its own but Ozell Lloyd and Daveion Jackson blew up the Yellow Jackets 2-pt conversion attempt and preserved a 21-20 victory for Mauldin!

The Mavs head to Eastside Tuesday for a scrimmage and will host the Mauldin Jamboree on August 23rd.  Go Mavs!

Mavs Defeat Host Raiders in Greenville Jamboree!

08/17/2013, 2:15pm EDT
By @MavsMauldin

Tyler Reimer rumbled 26 yards for a TD, which started a 21-14 victory for the Mavs against the host Red Raiders in the Greenville Jamboree Friday night at Sirrine Stadium.  Greenville answered with a score of its own, but Dre Massey took the following kick-off 92 yards to the house and extended the Mauldin lead to 14-7.  In a back and forth affair, the Raiders evened things up with a big play of their own.  With less than four minutes to go in the jamboree, and the Mavs facing a 4th and 18 from the Raider 22, Mauldin rolled the dice and Massey connected with Taz Richardson in double coverage down the seem for a 22-yard go ahead score.  The defense stiffened and forced a 4 downs and out from the Red Raiders to preserve the win.

Mauldin travels to the JL Mann Jamboree tonight, August 17, to face Greer.  Go Mavs!
