After winning the tip-off, our Lady Mavericks faces a strong challenge.  The Dorman pressure defense included a double-team on our point guard #11 Caitland Considine leading to several turn-overs. However, Caitland managed to steal the ball back once and make a wonderful assisting pass to #25 Kentra Washington under that basket for an easy lay-up. Kentra was just beginning her quarter though, and showed some great speed and hustle along with a pair of baskets she had a rebound. #24 Dah’Vielle Lucas went 3 for 3 in the quarter. The first quarter ended 13 to 10 for Dorman.

The second quarter was not very good. There were quite a few missed lay-ups and turn-overs that overshadowed most of the good play we see from our Lady Mavericks. #11 Caitland Considine had two rebounds, one with a put back for two. She was also fouled on a shot and made both of her foul shots. #23 Taylor Scott made a nice assist on a basket and also stole the ball. The Lady Mavericks headed to the locker room behind only by 5 points, 23 to 18 for Dorman.

Again the Dorman pressure defense got the best of our Lady Mavericks. Keeping us motivated, #12 Kilian Meilinger had an assist and a 3-pointer. #24 Dah’Vielle Lucas scored from the field and also had a rebound with a put back for 2! The team lost their confidence. Coach Bell and Coach Jones made a triple substitution putting in #10 La’Daisa Johnson, #15 Walisha Brown, and #13 Julyssa Brown. The new speed and confidence on the floor was noticeable and slowed the scoring machine of the Dorman players. The 3rd quarter ended at 50-25 Dorman.

If the Lady Mavericks played as hard as they did during the fourth quarter in every quarter they play, this would be a different season. Our Lady Mavericks were great. We won this quarter, but the deficit was too big to make up. #10 La’Daisa Johnson sank a very nice 3 pointer and pulled in a rebound. #13 Julyssa Brown had a rebound, a steal and scored 2 from the field. #15 Walisha Brown had a 3-pointer and another from the field. #25 Kentra Washington had 3 rebounds!!! She also was fouled twice while shooting and sank 3 of the 4 foul shots. Totally inspired play was #24 Dah’Vielle Lucas with two rebounds and 2 baskets from the fields and a steal too. The final was 56 to 43 Dorman.
