Region II-AAAA Swimming Championship
Pearson Mann led the boys team with two 1st place finishes in the 200 and 100 free events. Keegan Neale and Camden Spees scored points for the team with state qualifying times finishing 5th and 9th respectively in the 200 Free. In the 200 I.M., Connor Clayton and Eric Singleton achieved automatice state cuts and Evan Tin swam a consideration time. Trey Cottrell came in 8th with a state time in the 50 free and Garrett Minton came in 12th with a consideration time. Spees got another state cut in the 100 fly, while Kyle Grogan got a consideration cut in that same event. Trey Cottrell and Singleton swam consideration times in the 100 free. The Mavs had a great showing in the 500 Free, with Jackson Gaido and Neale finishing 5th and 7th respectively with state qualifying times. Dylan Ogle obtained a consideration times in the 500 free and 100 backstroke. Placing 7th and 8th in the 100 Breaststroke, Gaido and Clayton both swam automatic state times.
The Boys relay teams had some great swims, the highlight being the second place finish in the 400 free relay. It was a close race with Cottrell, Singleton, Neale, and Mann, coming in just over a second in front of Boiling Springs, with an automatic time of 3:28.28. In the 200 Medley relay, the team of Mann, Gaido, Neale, and Cottrell placed 4th, less than a second in front of Boiling Springs. The closest finish of them all was in the 200 free relay, with the team of Singleton, Grogan, Clayton, and Gaido finishing 5th, just one one-hundreth of a second in front of Riverside! Finishing just behind Riverside was Mauldin's 'B' team of Minton, Benton, Tin, and Spees.
