2011 Region II AAAA Championships

The Girls Team finished 4th with 73 points in the Region II AAAA Championship meet.  Leading the scoring for the girls team were sisters Danielle Galyer with 14 points and Ali Galyer with 13 points.  MaKayla Brooks contributed 6 points and Lauren Price 4 points. 

The Mauldin "A" Relay Team outswam Dorman in the 200Y Medley Relay event, finishing 3rd with a state qualifying time of 1:55.97.  Team members are Danielle Galyer, MaKayla Brooks, Lauren Price, and Ali Galyer.  Three lady mavs finished in the top 10 in the 200Y Freestyle;  Ali Galyer 2nd with a state qualifying time of 1:59.01, Emma Knapp 8th with a state qualifying time of 2:08.74, and Laura Tanzey 10th with a consideration time of 2:10.49.  Eighth grader Ali Galyer also had a 3rd place finish in the 100Y Backstroke, while seventh grader Emma Knapp had another 8th place finish in the 500Y Freestyle.  MaKayla Brooks, also an eighth grader, had two 6th place finishes; one in the 200Y I.M. and another in the 100Y Breaststroke.  Placing 5th in the 100Y Butterfly was sophomore Lauren Price with a state qualifying time of 1:04.49.  Junior Danielle Galyer placed 2nd in both of her individual events which were the 500Y Freestyle (5:24.29) and the 100Y Backstroke (59.99).  In the 200Y Freestyle Relay, the girls "A" relay consisting of Emilyh Mason, Brooke Williams, Lauren Price, and Laura Tanzey finished 4th with a state qualifying time of 1:48.41.   Lizzie Burnett, Rachel Paul, Emma Knapp, and Celine Crum made up the "B" 200Y Freestyle relay, which finished 8th with a consideration time of 1:54.32.  The Lady Mavs had all three relays finish in the top 10 in the 400Y Freestyle Relay event.  With a state qualifying time of 3:52.78, the "A" team of Ali Galyer, Brooke Williams, MaKayla Brooks, and Danielle Galyer placed 3rd behind Mann and Riverside.  The "C" relay team consisting of Celine Crum, Sara Bradford, Morgan McBride, and Katie Mooney came in 7th with a consideration time of 4:19.44 in from of the "B" relay with Emily Mason, Emma Knapp, Sally Sims, and Laura Tanzey that placed 8th with a time of 4:23.52.  Way to swim girls!
