2012-13 XC Conditioning Begins!
Posted in 2011 Girls Cross Country , Team News by SandyLawsonJust a reminder from Coach Howell that MHS Cross Country Team conditioning starts this Monday, June 18th. All runners should meet in the parking lot in front of the MHS football stadium at 7 a.m. Be sure to bring all signed and completed forms along with a check for $47 made out to Mauldin High School for insurance. The Athletic Forms & Documents that are required of all athletes prior to beginning conditioning can be found on the Athletics Home Page of the school's website.
Forms Needed:
-District Student Code of Conduct for Extracurricular Activities (print & sign)
-Athlete Contact Information Sheet
-Steadman Hawkins Consent Form
-Extra Curricular Responsibility Acknowledgement
-Risk of Injury Acknowledgement Form
-SCHSL Physical Form
-Insurance Letter to Parents and check, made to MHS, for the amount of $47.00.
Also, please don't forget your reflective vest and water!
One additional reminder from Coach Howell...if you have not previously participated in a sport at Mauldin High then you will also need to bring a copy of your birth certificate with you to conditioning on Monday along with your other paperwork. If you are new to Cross Country this year but have been a part of another MHS sports team, then please write which team and what year(s) on your Athlete Contact Information form. Thank you!

Funeral Arrangements for Mr. Brackin
Posted in 2011 Girls Cross Country , Team News by SandyLawsonFuneral Services for Mr. Walter Glenn Brackin will be held at First Baptist Church, Greenville (corner of Faris & Cleveland St). Visitation will be Monday, April 30th from 1:00 - 2:15. The funeral will follow at 2:30.

4A Region 2 Championships

This meet has no bearing on the State qualifying but is a great indicator of what's to come at Regional Qualifier. Official start times yet to come but expect JV races to beging around 4:30.

Furman Invitational

The 39th edition of the Furman Invitational is in the books. A small but determined varsity team competed, led again by Frazier Beane, dropping a full minute off her time of last year and 7th overall. Following closely behind was Sarah Lynch, improving by 45 seconds. Seniors Hannah Hetzel and Lauren Bennett completed the team, with Hannah completing the course in 1:15 better than last year. Finishing with only 4 runners, the Varsity girls did not qualify for a team place.
The JV Lady Mavs had a strong showing at the front of the pack. Led by newcomer Sadie Smith with a 5th place finish, the Mavs took the next 3 spots in the top 10 with Olivia Baddley (6th), Amy Berglind (7th) and Brigette Walsh (8th). Elli Kyriacou finished 12th to help the JV girls team a 2nd place oveall.

Upper State Qualifier location change
Posted in 2011 Girls Cross Country , Team News by SandyLawsonPlease note that the Upper State Qualifier will be held at Heritage Park this year and not Dorman High School. This was decided by a vote of the AD's. Please make a note of it on your calendars.

Canned Food Drive Meet
Posted in 2011 Girls Cross Country , Team News by JeffBeaneGet Off Your Can... and brings some canned food to this week meet on Wednesday Night as the Lady Mavs participate in the Canned Food Drive XC 5K.
This weeks meet will have a fun competitve twist as the teams will see who can bring the most canned food to benefit the Greenville Food bank. Many of the schools from Greenville County will be there. The Heritage Park course is another fast track that the runners enjoy. Get to know it, we have 3 more races there later in October.
Race will start at 5pm. Varsity and JV will probably be combined.

Lake Murray Invitational

Lake Murray Invite Results.... Look at all those PRs!
The Lady Mavs head back to the Columbia area for the Lake Murray Invitational. A flat, fast course, many of the runners look to post their fastest time this year and probably some PR's.

Directions
Crooked Creek Recreational Park, Chapin SC
Take exit 91 (Chapin Exit) from I-26 towards Chapin. Take third left past Chapin High School, cross railroad tracks and go straight through the traffic light. Crooked Creek park is 2 miles from the traffic light. Follow signs to the race area in the park. Bus and car parking will be in the Chapin Baptist lot next to the park.

Dorman Meet
Posted in 2011 Girls Cross Country , Team News by JeffBeaneOn a hot Wednesday afternoon over a difficult Dorman course, the girls competed against the Cavaliers in good 'ole dual meet. With all the girls running together, the Mavs went up against a tough Dorman team. Frazier Beane, once again led the girls with a 3rd place overall, breaking up a Dorman shutout. Sarah Lynch followed in 8th. Lauren Bennett raced to a solid 10th place. The varsity team rounded out with Oliva Baddley in 13th, Jessica Bigner in 14th, Sadie Smith in 16th and Bridget Walsh in 17th.
No team scores were kept for JV. Elli Kyriacou led a host of JV Mavs with a 20th place overall

Coaches Classic
Posted in 2011 Girls Cross Country , Team News by JeffBeaneBrittany Williams leads the Mavs at Coaches Classic with a top 20 finish. Brittany placed 19th overall with a 5k time of 20:10. Frazier Beane was next in for the team in 24th place with a time of 21:29. Frazier's time was over a minute faster than last year's at this meet. Sarah Lynch was third in for the team with a 21:27, which was over a minute faster than last year too. Olivia Baddley and Sadie Smith rounded out the top five scorers with times of 22:35 and 23:46. Also competing for the varsity squad were Jessica Bigner 23:58 and Cheyenne Galli 24:59. Coach Howell's photo album of the meet

Eastside Meet Results

On a course that was suspiciously long and with more twists and turns than a John LeCarre novel, the Lady Mavs finished 3rd out of 10 teams. A total of 6 points seperated the Lady Mavs from #5 ranked Eastside and #4 ranked Riverside. Frazier Beane continued her front running finishing 3rd overall. This meet also marked the return of Brittany Williams, working her way around the course in 6th.
The JV girls made a strong showing taking 6 of the 7 top spots, led by freshman Sadie Smith, followed closely by Jessica Bigner and Cheyenne Galli

2011 Eye Opener
Posted in 2011 Girls Cross Country , Team News by JeffBeaneThe Mauldn Girls Varsity team finished 9th in the always competitive Eye Opener, this morning at the Roger Milliken Research Center. With top teams from North and South Carolina present, the Lady Mavs know what they're up against. Sophomore Frazier Beane, let the way with a 17th place finish, dropping 1:30 off last years time to 20:22.
