March 8, 2011 - Boiling Springs VS Mavs

Mauldin's JV and Varsity Baseball teams kicked off region play on Tuesday night hosting Boiling Springs.

The JV ended their game knotted at 5 runs each. 

The varsity played a tough 7 innings, edging out Boiling Springs by a score of 3 to 1.

The Mavs scored all 3 runs in the first inning as a result of two crucial errors by Boiling Springs. Boiling Springs generated their sole run in the 3rd as a result of two back-to-back walks followed up by a RBI Fielder Choice. 

Defensively, Cory Thompson was given the nod by the Mavericks' staff and chalked up the win, pitching a complete game, allowing 3 hits, 1 run and striking out 10 Bulldogs batters. 

Offensively, the Mavs struggled at the plate but matched Boiling Springs with 3 hits. Cory Thompson, L.T. Tolbert and Pete Wilkes all had a single each. 

The Mavs Varsity will play next at home against TL Hana, Thursday, March 11 - game time is 6 PM.  

Next JV game is before the Varsity game, Tuesday, March 15 at 5:00pm against JL Mann at JL Mann.
