Lady Mavs lose to Riverside in PK's 0-1

The LADYMAVS played Riverside at home on Wednesday evening, the first match against Riverside as a Region 2-AAAA team.  It was a windy evening.  Both teams came out to play and play fast, physical, and with determination.  The LADYMAVS technical skill and passing game outdoing their opponent who played a more physically aggressive game.  Twenty minutes into the first half Gracie Boswell's shot to goal hit the cross bar and bounced straight down.  Several minutes later, Caitland Considine, goalie, turned away a potential score by Riverside with a diving save.  The LadyMavs continued play in the second half with good possession and serves to the goal by the defenders and mid-fielders.  The team struggled to get a goal in this evenly matched physical game.  The opponent handed the team several opportunities to gain an edge due to a dozen or so fouls.  The intensity of the game exemplified by the issuance of a few yellow cards.  The game was scoreless after regulation time and two 5-minute overtime periods. Defensive players kept the opponent scoreless again. The game went to PKs with Riverside winning by one.  The LADYMAVS played well and the match up brought out the best in the girls.
