JV Volleyball Defeats Boiling Springs

Click here to meet the JV Lady Mavs

On Thursday night, the JV Lady Mavs went on the road to face a very determined group of Lady Bulldogs from Boiling Springs.  It would not be easy on this night in Spartanburg County, but in the end after two hard fought games the Lady Mavs put another W in the win column with a 25-23 25-23 victory.

In game 1, the Lady Mavs got off to a hot start thanks to the hot hitting of Junior Kristina Brown.  Early on Brown recorded kills on consecutive points and 3 out of 4 and the Lady Mavs were up early on the Bulldogs.  After some back and forth action, the Mavs stretched the lead to 17-13 but the Bulldogs fought tough and cut the lead to 1 at 19-18.  Again, however, the Lady Mavs strected the lead to game point at 24-20 and again the Bulldogs fought back to within 1 at 24-23.  But after a couple of hits that went long, the third time was the charm for the Mavs and Laura Woodlee dropped the last point into the Bulldogs court for a kill and a 25-23 victory.

In Game 2, the Lady Mavs went on a huge run midway through the game and took a seemingly comfortable 21-10 lead but again there was no quit in the Bulldogs who stormed back to tie the score at 23!  But again the Lady Mavs would not be denied and the took the next two points and the victory 25-23.

The Mavs have their final home game of the season on Tuesday, October 21st  against Byrnes at 5:30.  Come out and show your support!!
