The Mavericks relied heavily on defense and their ground game to pound out a 22-14 win over the Riverside Warriors.  Jason Labrador got the scoring started with a short touchdown run behind G Quintavous Turner's lead.  The Warriors answered with a long TD strike of their own and led 8-6 after the successful 2-point conversion.  The Mavericks responded with Labrador hitting Josh Rodgers on a short pass and run behind a Ryan Putman block for their 2nd score.  Labrador then punched in the 2-point conversion to grab a 14-8 halftime lead.

In the 3rd quarter Riverside again hit a deep pass for a TD to tie the game at 14.  Outside the two long passes for scores, the Maverick defense held strong versus the Warrior offense, forcing multiple 3 and outs.  Again in the 4th quarter the defense stood tall, allowing the offense to pound out a game winning TD drive behind the running of Labrador, Keon Webb and Davin Gonzalez.  Labrador capped off the game winning drive with his second score and 2-point conversion, giving the Mavs a 22-14 victory.  Mauldin hosts the Byrnes Rebels next Thursday in its last home game of the season.
