Class of 2013 Athletic Commitments

Congratulations to Mauldin Seniors Brianna Davis (Softball) and Ansley Speaks (Tennis) on their Official Verbal Commitments to College Sports!!

Brianna will play for The College of Charleston and Ansley will play for Furman University. Congratulations, Ladies! 

Alumni inducted into The Citadel Hall of Fame

Another one of Mauldin's finest! Mauldin High Alumni Mike Cason to be inducted into The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame! Mike is the MHS school record and state champion in the 800 at 1:55.2. He was on our 1983, 1984 "All American", and 1985 state championship teams. His 800 record still stands today! Coach Howell was in attendance at the induction as Mike's guest.

Mauldin High Students continued the long standing tradition of National See You at the Pole Day to pray for fellow students and faculty before they started their school day. See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. More than two decades later, millions around the world pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.

Varsity Football players Dre Massey, Sean Douglas, and Christopher Sullivan have been invited to the Greenville Touchdown Club where they will be recognized as Players of the Week!  Way to go, Mavs!!!

Lady Mavs VB WIN!

After losing 6 games in a row, Mauldin was finally victorious over Boiling Springs.  They won 25-14, 25-17 and 26-24.  Leading in kills were Lindsay Renwick with 14, Carolyn Sullivan with 9, Bailey Hammond with 8, and Sarah Turner with 7.  Sullivan led in digs with 23, while Amy Bruchon contributed 11 and Jessica Gonzalez contributed 10.  Gonzalez led in aces with 2 and Bruchon led in assists with 32.  Lauren Bone was strong at the net, contributing 9 blocks.  Turner contributed 6 blocks and Sullivan and Bruchon both had 4 each.  

Mavs Cheer Champions!!

Mauldin Cheer team wins 1st place and Grand Champions at the 9th Annual Gaffney Indian Invitational!

The team took the mat at the 9th Annual Indian Invitational hosted by the Gaffney Indians.   The team has been working hard since August and the hard work paid off.

They won first place in the 4A grouping and were overall Grand Champions.

The ladies continue their journey next Saturday, 9/29/2012, in Easley at the Greenwave Invitational.  Come watch some incredible athletes and cheer on the MAVs.

Volleyball Updates

The Lady Mavs fought hard tonight against the Lady Vikings, but barely lost in the fifth game.  The scores were 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 27-25, and 14-16.  Amy Bruchon led the team with 45 assists and contributed 18 digs.  Lindsay Renwick led in kills with 16 and she also had 16 digs.  Sarah Turner was on fire tonight, contributing 15 well placed kills.  Nadine Hernandez led the team in digs with 24 and also had 3 aces.  Carolyn Sullivan had 3 aces as well and contributed 9 kills and 23 digs.  Tayler Scott led in blocks with 3, while Bailey Hammond had 8 kills and 18 digs.  Jessica Gonzalez contributed 16 digs as well. 

LADY MAVS Tennis Continue Winning!!

The Lady Mavs won all lines in both of their matches this week, beating Spartanburg and Boiling Springs.   Sydney Patton was 2-0, dropping only 1 game;  Lexi Stewart also was 2-0;  Jordan Paul 2-0;  Madeline Weih 2-0;  Sheila Walsh 2-0;  Patton/Behal 1-0;  Sydney Bowes/Bri Stewart 2-0.  Great job!

 

 

LADY MAVS BEAT CHARLOTTE CATHOLIC 6-1!!!!

The Lady Mavs played very strong this weekend winning the Bishop England tournament.  Ansley Speaks was 5-0, dropping only 2 games;  Sydney Patton also won all of her matches, as did Lexi Stewart and Jordan Paul.  Madeline Weih also had a winning record at number 5, only dropping two tough matches.  Doubles team Haley Behal and Alex Patton also won all matches, including a third set tie breaker in the final match.  Great job girls!

Boys Swim victorious over Eastside & Greenville

The Boys' team proved victorious not once, but twice over Eastside and Greenville in the swim meet at Stonelake Pool on September 13th.  Pearson Mann scored a first place finish for the Mavs in the 100 Butterfly, swimming well under the state qualifying time.  In his other individual event, the 100 Backstroke, Mann finished second to Greenville's Taylor Hall, achieving another automatic time for state.  First and second place finishers in the 200 Free, Connor Clayton and Trey Cottrell, earned consideration times.   In the 200 I.M. Camden Spees, Evan Tin, and Dylan Ogle all scored consideration times finishing 2nd, 4th, and 6th respectively.  Four more consideration times were added in the 50 Free by Trey Wall, Jackson Gaido, Keegan Neale, and Garrett Minton, finishing 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 9th respectively.  In addition to Mann's win in the 100 Butterfly, Clayton and Neale achieved consideration times scoring 4th and 6th place.  Gaido and Dylan Ogle swam consideration times in the 100 Free with 2nd and 3rd place finishes behind Greenville's Hall.  Adding another consideration time for the Mavs in the 100 Breaststroke was Kyle Grogan with a 5th place finish.  The boys' relays scored big for the team with 1st and 3rd place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay; 1st and 2nd place finishes in the 200 Free Relay; and a 1st place finish in the 400 Free Relay.  Way to go boys !

An aggressive 2nd half defense provided much needed momentum and field position helping the offense overcome a 14-0 halftime deficit in route to a 19-14 win over the JL Mann Patriots.

The Lady Mavs Tennis team added three wins to their record this week.  They beat Riverside, Dorman and Byrnes this week, not dropping one line.  They are off to Charleston this weekend to play in the Bishop England Invitational.  Good Luck Girls!
