Funerals Arrangements for Mrs. Lomax

Posted in Headlines by SandyLawson

Services will be held, Monday, May 14, 2012 2:00 pm at Mountain View Baptist Church

Please prayer for Mauldin Senior Football Player Reggie Lomax and his family as they mourn the loss of their sweet mother Brigett Lomax. I had the pleasure of becoming friends with Miss Brigett on facebook. While she suffered through her illness she always would post and cheer for all Mauldin athletes. Miss Brigett sent me notes telling me how much she wished she could be at the games but her illness prevented it. She prayed for each of you everyday. She loved Mauldin football and was so very proud of her son Reggie Tiger Lomax. God has called another one of the Mauldin family home.

Lady Mavs Lose Heartbreaker to Irmo 1-2

Posted in Headlines by EllenCasper

The Mavericks welcomed the Irmo Yellow Jackets to Mauldin Stadium for their SC AAAA Second Round Playoff match. The Mavs were looking to avenge their soggy Viking Cup loss and advance to the Quarterfinals. Both teams started out trying to stamp their style on the match. Mauldin concentrated on control and possession, keeping the ball on the floor, playing in and checking back. Irmo set out to use their height in an air battle and play long balls forward to their star. It was Mauldin that got the first good look when Lauren Young turned on a loose ball from a corner and fired a shot to the right of goal. Unfortunately Gina Cardenas could not get out of the way and was judged offsides when the ball struck her.

MAVS Playoff Run Ends With Tough Loss at Mann

Posted in Headlines by EllenCasper

Your MAVS traveled to J. L. Mann as two of the Upstate's strongest teams looked to advance towards the State Boy's Tennis Championships. It was a tense battle with Mann taking a 3-1 lead, but Mauldin closed the gap to 3-2 on the strength of a 6-4, 6-3 win at #2 Doubles. This left two of the Upstate's highest ranked players locked in a ferocious fight at #1 singles. In the end, the MAVS, Alan Pearce, fell just short in his bid to upset J. L. Mann's Parks Schoen, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. Congratulations to the MAVS on a great season! With only 2 seniors graduating, the future looks bright.

Lady Mavs JV Dehorn Rams 4-0

Posted in Headlines by EllenCasper

Picking up where they left off on Wednesday last week against Woodruff, the Lady Mavs continued their offensive onslaught.

The shooting started early and often with Emily Smith connecting a pass to Brooke Swetenburg who fed Jordan Mosher for a shot on goal soon after the opening whistle.  Continuing to move the ball around the pitch with an excellent display of passing, Jackie Saitkowski crossed to Jordan Mosher, who again found Brooke Swetenburg for a shot on goal.  The Hillcrest keeper managed a deflection that Heather Madden barely missed putting into the back of the net. Kristine Arnau also had a great solo run early in the half that fell just short of breaking free.
