JV Volleyball Defeats Hillcrest Again

Finishes Season with 17 wins against only 3 losses

On Thursday night the JV Lady Mavs went down the road to Simpsonville to play rival Hillcrest on the Rams home floor.  The Lady Mavs finished the season the way they started it - with a victory.  And what a sweet one it was... 23-25 25-15 15-8 and a season sweep of the Rams!

In Game 1, the Lady Mavs and the Rams both came out fighting.  After the Lady Mavs took a slim 6-5, the Rams went on a huge roll and took the next 10 straight for a 15-6 lead and things looked bleak for the visitors.  But the Lady Mavs righted the ship and rallied to with 20-18 forcing a Rams timeout.  But the rally continued as the Lady Mavs moved to within one point of victory 24-21.  But the home Rams decided enough was enough and were able to string together 5 straight points and take game one in an agonizing loss 26-24.

In Game 2 the Lady Mavs came out smokin'!!  The Mavs hot start led to 10-3 lead and they never looked back.  At one point they stretched the lead to 20-9 and cruised to a 25-15 win.

In Game 3, the Lady Mavs again were strong from the start and led the majority of the way before finally completing the SEASON SWEEP of Hillcrest, 15-8.

Fantastic Season!!  The future of Lady Mavs Volleyball looks very bright!!

The JV Lady Mavs would also like to wish their Varsity Sister the best of luck in the 4AAAA playoffs that start next week.  GO MAVS!!

JV Volleyball Defeats Boiling Springs

On Thursday night, the JV Lady Mavs went on the road to face a very determined group of Lady Bulldogs from Boiling Springs.  It would not be easy on this night in Spartanburg County, but in the end after two hard fought games the Lady Mavs put another W in the win column with a 25-23 25-23 victory.

In game 1, the Lady Mavs got off to a hot start thanks to the hot hitting of Junior Kristina Brown.  Early on Brown recorded kills on consecutive points and 3 out of 4 and the Lady Mavs were up early on the Bulldogs.  After some back and forth action, the Mavs stretched the lead to 17-13 but the Bulldogs fought tough and cut the lead to 1 at 19-18.  Again, however, the Lady Mavs strected the lead to game point at 24-20 and again the Bulldogs fought back to within 1 at 24-23.  But after a couple of hits that went long, the third time was the charm for the Mavs and Laura Woodlee dropped the last point into the Bulldogs court for a kill and a 25-23 victory.

In Game 2, the Lady Mavs went on a huge run midway through the game and took a seemingly comfortable 21-10 lead but again there was no quit in the Bulldogs who stormed back to tie the score at 23!  But again the Lady Mavs would not be denied and the took the next two points and the victory 25-23.

The Mavs have their final home game of the season on Tuesday, October 21st  against Byrnes at 5:30.  Come out and show your support!!

Regular Season Record 15 WINS and 3 LOSSES.
