Lady MAVS drop first game of Upper State Playoffs to Wren in 3-2 loss

The Mavericks couldn't get the winning run across the plate tonight.  Both teams got on the board early for a 2-2 tie after the 1st inning of play.  The tie held up through six innings.  In the top of the 7th the Hurricaines hit paydirt to score run 3.  The MAVS were held scoreless in the bottom of the 7th to end the game.  On Monday the Lady MAVS will take on the loser of Saturday's Hillcrest/Irmo game.

Lady MAVS take out Easley 4-0 to win District II Championship game

After losing the first game 1-0, Mauldin takes a 4-0 win in Game 2 to take the District Championship and advance to the Upper State Playoffs.  The Lady MAVS break through for 4 runs in the top of the eighth inning to seal the win.  It was a night of HBPs (hit by pitch) as Haley Workman tags Jordon Stovall 4 times in one night!

Here's how the magical 8th breaks down.  Haley gets on with a double.  Amelia lays down a sac bunt to move Haley to third with 1 down.  Jena lines a single to leftfield to score Haley for a 1-0 Mauldin lead.  Elizabeth comes in to DH for Ebony and laces a line shot past an infield charging what they thought was going to be a bunt. Ebony comes back in to run for Elizabeth.  MAV runners are now on 1st and 2nd.  Ashley hits into a Fielder's Choice and the MAVS still have runners at 1st and 2nd.  Brooke singles to leftfield to load the bases.  Amanda reaches 1st on an E5 and scores Ebony.  Dana scores 2 on a bloop single to rightfield to wrap up the scoring and give the MAVS all they need to secure the win.  Ashley Bagwell went the distance on the mound in Game 1 and Game 2.

Lady MAVS advance to District Playoff Finals with 1-0 win over Easley

Sydney takes one for the team (takes one off the helmet in the 4th) to gain first base.  Dana lays down the bunt to advance the runner, and Jordan gets a hit to drop in behind 3rd to bring in Syd and score the run.  A.B. and the Mauldin defense take care of business and the MAVS put another 1 run win in the books.  _______________________________________________________________________________________________________

MAVS win to sweep Byrnes in regular season play

The Lady MAVS continued their winning ways in region play by notching a 4-1 win against Byrnes at Clayton Field.  This game wins the "Bizarre Play of the Year" award.  With the bases loaded and two outs, Ebony Edwards appeared to have struck out and left runners stranded on base.  The ball got away from Byrnes catcher on the 3rd strike, but 1st base was occupied, and the Byrnes team headed for the dugout. Coach Sissel yelled for the MAV baserunners to advance.  When the dust settled Mauldin had scored 2 runs, Ebony was standing on 2nd, and the Byrnes team was scooting back onto the field trying to find the ball and hold the remaining runners on base.  The ruling on a dropped 3rd strike with 2 outs is that the catcher must throw down to 1st (even if the base is occupied).

Leading hitters were Kenzi Corn, Dana Landers and Haley Register.  Ashley Bagwell was the winning pitcher.

Lady MAVS remain perfect in region play

Mauldin takes a 3-1 decision over Boiling Springs.  Dana Landers and Haley Register had strong appearances at the plate with each hitting a double.  Ashley Bagwell had 9 Ks for the night.

Lady MAVS move to 2-0 in region play with win against Dorman

Elizabeth Williamson picked up the win with 18 strikeouts.  Kenzi Corn (2-3, 3B, 2 runs) Jordan Stovall (2-4, 2B, 1run), and Dana Landers (2-4, 2 2B, RBI, 2 runs) were the leaders at the plate.

Lady MAVS Win Season Opener

The Lady MAVS took a 2-0 decision over Byrnes in their first game of the season.  Byrnes entered the game ranked #2 in the state in the preseason coach's poll.  Jordan Stovall cleared the centerfield fence for her first homer of the 2008 season.  Sydney D'Agostino went 1-1 and stole home on a passed ball. Ashley Bagwell was the winning pitcher with 12 K.

Softball to sell signs for Fund Raising

The softball team will be selling outdoor advertising signs for its Softball Designated Fundraiser.  Forms were distributed at the parent's meeting on November 13th.  You may download the form by using the link below.  The signs are 4ft x 8ft metal signs.  Signs will have brown lettering on a white background and will carry the business name, address, and phone number or business website.  They will hang on the softball field fence.  The cost of a new sign is $350.  The yearly renewal fee thereafter will be $225.  Along with the sign, the business will also receive a 1/8th page ad in the spring sports program.  Checks should be made out to Mauldin High School.  Checks and paperwork should be turned in to Jenny Williamson.  Check out the Current Signs and Sponsors link to see which businesses are already supporting our team.  Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards softball expenses not paid for by the MAVS Booster Club.   Coach Jumper with questions.  Advertising Sign  Softball Current Sponsor List

Softball Meeting, Tuesday, November 13

There will be a PARENT meeting to discuss the fundraiser for 08 softball. We are selling signs as our major fundraiser. The meeting will be held at the high school, room B103, at 6:00pm on Tuesday, November 13.

SUGGESTED PARKING: Provided the Corn Road entrance to the bus drop off area is open, (turning off of Butler onto Corn, the bus drop off is the first driveway in front of the school), it would be easiest to get to B103 by parking in the bus drop off area and entering the three story annex. B103 is the second room on the left inside that entrance.

If you enter through the atrium entrance, proceed toward the annex to B hall. Turn right on B hall and B103 is the first room on the left.
