Mauldin Boys Meet Mann
Assistant Coach Daniel Hynum commented about Wednesday night's meet, "The meet went well. On the bad side, we had a number of DQ's that we'll have to work on before next Wednesday. On the good side, there were a number of close races where our swimmers had the endurance to seal the deal. That's proof that the intese work outs we're putting them through are paying dividends despite frequent, " I'm swimming tired" comments we've heard." Coach Patricia Gettys concurred and added, "Being our first away swim meet, we were very proud of the team and how they pushed through the challenges that presented themselves throughout the evening."
The 100M Freestyle was one of those close races Assistant Coach Daniel was referencing. The Mavs' Pearson Mann out-touched JL Mann's Chandler Watts to take second place in that race. Pearson also finished fourth in the 200M Freestyle. In that same event, Davis Keaton help the boys team out by taking third for the team. Adding to the boys' points, Eric Singleton finished second in both of his individal events, while Jackson Gaido took second and third in his. Mitchell Hornaday scored for the boys by finishing third in the 500M Freestyle. Thad Wassynger, Anthony Rizzo, and Daniel Lucero also added to the boys' score.

Boys Put up a Good Fight against Dorman
"The boys kept the score very close with Dorman- they had a much older and bigger team than us, but the guys hung in there and did a great job! We have a very young team, both girls and boys; we continue to see improvement each week. We are very please with everyones effort tonight", said Coach Gettys.
Jackson Gaido led the boys team in scoring in the dual meet with Dorman, adding 14 to the 124 total Mauldin points against Dorman's 151. Gaido out-touched Dorman's Tim Few to win the 500M free, which was one of the most exciting races of the night.
Proving that this young team has some depth, Mauldin's 'B' relay, out-swam Dorman's 'B' relay in two out of three races. Mitchell Hornaday, Taylor Cottrell, Anthony Rizzo, and Trey Cottrell swam the medley relay. On the 200M Free relay were Anthony Rizzo, Taylor Cottrell, Trey, Cottrell, and Trey Wall.
Pearson Mann, Eric Singleton, and Thad Wassynger all had second and third place finishes in their individual events, scoring 11 points each for the team.

Boys Team Starts Season off with a Strong Second Place Showing
A young Mauldin Boys team fell just 10 points short of first place finishers, Boiling Springs.
Assistant Coach Daniel Hynum spoke encouragingly about the boys team, "10 points isn't bad considering the number of boys Boiling Springs brought (26) vs us (14). It was a great first meet. Something solid for us to build on throughout the season."
Mitchell Hornaday and Pearson Mann helped the team out by finishing first and second respectively in the 200M Freestyle. Mann also took first in the 100M Butterfly. Jackson Gaido, a new freshman on the team, contributed points with two first place finishes in the 200M Individual Medley and the 100M Breast. Davis Keaton added points by taking second in the 50M and 500M Freestyles. Also taking second in their events, Thad Wassynger and Eric Singleton helped boost the team score.
With wins in all three of the relays, the boys team has a lot to be proud of and is looking forward to a great season!
