Countdown to the State Cross Country meet

Well it wasn't quite what they were looking for but both Boys and Girls XC teams qualified for state.  The girls team placed 2nd in the Region, losing to Spartanburg. The girls team placed 2nd in the Upper State Qualifier as well.   Lexi Neiling, Caroline McDonough and Alex Dawson received All-Region Honors.  Lexi placed 2nd in the Region II and Upper State and Caroline (8th Region, 10th Upper State).  Alex Dawson (9th Region, 11th Upper State) ran a personal best today finally breaking the 20:00 mark! Kathleen Jacob (15th Region, 23rd Upper State) ran a season best time of 20:38.  Renee Kulik and Rachel Neiling placed 19th & 22nd in the Region and 38th and 43th in the Upper State.

 The boys team placed 3rd in the Region, losing to Dorman and Spartanburg (by only 6 points!).  Eric Lawson received All-Region Honors.  Eric placed 6th in the Region race and 14th in the Upper State.  Tyler Tesch placed 11th Region, 25th Upper State and Daniel Weekes placed 12th Region, 26th Upper State. 7th grader Sawyer Willingham (16th Region, 34th Upper State) continues to improve his time, setting another personal best with a 17:34!  Graham Harris, Kris Lacer, and Teddy Buckner placed 21st, 26th, & 31st respectively in the Region and 47th, 56th, and 70th in the Upper State. 

The Cross Country teams will leave this Friday for their trip downstate to Columbia.  The South Carolina State Meet will be held at the Sandhills Research Park on Saturday, November 8th.

Race Times:                
10:00 a.m.        Girls Varsity     (seven entries)
10:45 a.m.        Boys Varsity     (seven entries)

***Due to High School League regulations, there are no JV Division Races***

Course:
The course will be Dorman High School ’s 5k course.  The finish line field will be completed flagged off and off limits to all non-competing athletes and spectators.  Please help us keep the finish line field clear of all non-coaches by notifying your parents before the meet.  

Directions:
From I-85 or I-26 Asheville:  Take exit 70 onto I-26 East towards Columbia .  Exit 28 off of I-26 onto US 221.  Left off exit.  School entrance is 1 mile on left.

From I-26 East:  Exit 28 off of I-26 onto US 221.  Right onto US 221.  School is 1 mile on left. 

Bus Parking:
BUSSES may enter the third entrance to Dorman and unload athletes behind the freshman campus.  After unloading, busses will drive to the football stadium parking lot and park there.

Spectator Parking:
Spectator parking is in the field past the stadium with overflow parking in the stadium lot.  Handicapped passes, race volunteers, and media only will be allowed in freshman campus lot (third entrance).  Please inform all parents, spectators, etc., to enter through the first entrance to Dorman in front of the main campus.

Restrooms:
Restroom facilities are available at the freshman campus gym and football stadium. 

Team Tents:
Team tents may be set up in the grassy areas in front of the freshman campus.  All team tents should be on the freshman campus side of the main campus road.  Absolutely no team tents will be allowed in the football practice fields.  Trash bags are provided with your team packet, please help clean-up your team area before you leave.

Qualifying:
The top 7 teams, and any individual in the top 20 overall, advance to the State Championship Meet on November 8th at Sandhills in Columbia.

Results:
Scoring and results will be done by computer. Complete results will be sent to Ed Boehmke Saturday afternoon for posting on the official website of the South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.
