Game 2: Lady Mavs Rout Lady Rangers, 7 - 0

With top seed in the White Pool on the line, the Lady Mavs were hosted by the
Lady Rangers of Unaka, Tennessee at 2:30 Monday afternoon in the Azalea Festival
Tournament's opening day games.

Junior center fielder Kenzi Corn started the hitting and scoring with a single
through the 5/6 hole. Brianna Davis bunted for a hit, moving the runner to 2nd
and out running the throw to first. Two batters later Jordan Stovall scored K.
Corn on an infield ground ball out.

Mauldin All-State pitcher Ashley Bagwell took the mound for the Lady Mavs and
scattered 2 hits and 2 walks in a 5 inning shut out performance in which she
struck out 5 batters.

Mauldin scored again in the 2nd. A. Bagwell singled to left. Pinch runner
Weslyn Jones was retired at 3rd base on a fielder's choice, but benefactor Jenna
Westmoreland scored two batters later on a line drive, RBI single into center by
B. Davis. The Lady Mavs did the most damage in the 4th inning when Brooke
Barnhill led off with an infield single. Two outs later K. Corn singled in
Barnhill with Mauldin's 3rd run. Next three successive doubles by B. Davis,
Dana Landers and J. Stovall brought the score to 6 - 0 in the middle of the 4th.

Mauldin added another insurance run in the 5th when Bk. Barnhill and A. Bagwell
connected for back to back singles and J. Westmoreland ripped an RBI hit that
scored Barnhill to complete the Mauldin scoring. Time expired after Bagwell and
her defense held the Lady Rangers scoreless in the bottom of the 5th.

By completing pool play undefeated, Mauldin's Lady Mavs advance to the Division
1 Bracket and will face #1 State Ranked 4A Stratford at 1 PM on Tuesday. Stay
tuned for details as our Lady Mavs continue to battle competitive teams from
Lower South Carolina and surrounding states.
