Day 1 of the Azalea Festival Tournament:

Game 1: Mauldin Wallops West Ashley, 11 - 0 in 5

Amelia Gillentine pitched a 3 hit shutout against the West Ashley Wildcats in
the opening game of pool play Monday in Summerville, SC. The Mauldin offense
was potent early and often in support of Gillentine, scoring 4 runs in the first
inning off of 5 hits - singles by Brianna Davis, Jordan Stovall, A. Gillentine
and Brooke Barnhill and a RBI Double by Dana Landers. Kenzi Corn stole two
bases and scored, B. Davis, D. Landers and Bk. Barnhill also had thefts in the
rally.

Mauldin scored 3 more runs in the 2nd when Jenna Westmoreland and B. Davis got
hits and with K. Corn were driven in, in succession by D. Landers, J. Stovall
and Haley Register.

At the end of the 3rd inning, Mauldin Coach Joseph Terry put the game in the
hands of his capable reserves. Mauldin added an insurance run in the 4th when
Jessica Lyles led off the inning with a hit and a stolen base and was driven in
by D. Landers with a single to left field.

In the bottom of the 5th the Lady Mavs iced the game after A. Gillentine and
Ebony Edwards singled, J. Westmoreland and J. Lyles walked, and then Elizabeth
Renwick delivered a game-ending 2 run double to right center field to mercy rule
the game at 11 - 0.
